Folklore

The inhabitants of Central Moravia are extremely hospitable and their life style is in many ways only typical for this particular region. The most characteristic features of the Haná region are its rich folk costume and unforgettable dialect. Dozens of folk music and dance troupes revive old traditions continually at lent celebrations, feasts or harvest time and bring to life the interesting customs, dance and songs of the region.

Exposition of Folk Architecture in Prikazy

PříkazyIn the village itself there is a Haná skansen with rare examples of Haná village architecture – charming houses, barns, a chapel, fire fighting equipment. The original 1930s Haná pub has set many men’s hearts a-beating, and children will be thrilled at the collection of toys. Rare tools and implements in the workshops and barns will acquaint you with old ways of agricultural and some forgotten trades.

Comenius Museum

The Přerov Comenius Museum is proud of its title as the oldest museum of its kind in the world. Mineral collections, a reconstruction of schoolrooms from the 17th century to the early 20th century, and Haná folklore await you in the Renaissance chateau.

Permanent exhibition, offering an overview of the geological past and prehistoric history of the region, as well as an exhibition on the local poet Jiří Wolker and one on the history of time keeping.

Thanks to its unique collections, numbering thousands of pieces, the borders of Central Moravia are often extended abroad. One item of interest, for example, is an exposition entitled Olomouc Over the Centuries which will acquaint you with the rich history of Olomouc in an unusual fashion.
